Look at this beautiful identity project that the second semester students had to do to pass their benchmark(*) in French.

It was made by Yaminah who is a music major.

(*)A benchmark is an assignment (=devoir écrit) the students must do in order to pass the class. If they don't do it, they fail the class and must go to summer school in order to attend the class again. We'll soon tell you more about this.

March, 8 is Women's Day in France.

Here in the US, March is Women's month.

So we would like you (French and American students) to send each other emails about a woman who has stood up for human and/or civil rights.

We'll be posting the best articles on the blog, and we hope you will be able to find good information to include in your newspaper. Keep posted!

Best,
Ms. Khiat
Here is an article written by Orenthale for his pen pal about Jean Moulin:

I'll introduce to you a man who helped the French Resistance during Second World War: Jean Moulin.

He was born on June, 21 1899 and died on 8th July, 1943. He was a French Prefect. Furthermore, he fought against German occupation in France by resisting. After De Gaulle's call on 18th June 1940, he came to London because he was called by him. He gave him the mission to unify French Groups of Resistants and to create the National Council of Resistance. Jean Moulin did it but he was arrested and tortured by Klaus Barbie in Lyon. Afterwards, he was trasfered to Paris where he was questionned. But when he was transfered to Berlin, he died in the train. Jean Moulin is considered as a modern hero in France History.

Regards,
Orenthal.
My beloved Manet students,

We are delighted to share these news with you:

We have just received an email from the Jeannine Manuel Foundation who has decided to offer us a grant of €3,000 for our Boston project. ;-)

It means that you did an amazing job when they came to visit you. Mrs Tazi and I are very, very proud of you and of your involvement in this project. We both know you will keep on working to make this project come true.

As you know the American Embassy has also decided to grant us with €3,000, and a local business has offered us €1,000.

The General Council of the Hauts de Seine, together with Versailles' schoolboard have also promised us their financial support.

We are of course very grateful to all these people who are helping us make this dream come true of taking kids from underserved areas to the United States and give them the wonderful opportunity of meeting teenagers in Boston and visit the Big Apple (=New York).

We are probably the luckiest teachers in France to have such wonderful students as you all!!!

My BAA students and I are really looking forward to seeing you this coming Spring!
Much love, and stay well,
Ms Khiat
